Private Guide and Vehicle Full Day Santorini

Full-day private guide — room for Oia, Akrotiri, wine and a beach if your ship allows.

Duration: 8 HoursPace: ModerateBest for: Long port days when one private booking should cover the island without multiple separate tours

Eight hours of private guided touring — enough window to combine Oia, Akrotiri, wine and coastal stops in one coordinated day, subject to your ship's actual time ashore.

Plan the route with your operator ahead of sailing day — full days still cannot fit everything at peak-season pace.

Guide plus vehicle removes coach timetable constraints while keeping narration.

Meals are not included; build a lunch stop into your plan.

Getting there from the cruise port

Santorini cruise ships typically anchor in the caldera rather than berth alongside a town pier. Most passengers reach shore by tender — commonly to the Old Port (Skala) beneath Fira, though some operators and larger ship deployments use Athinios commercial port with coach transfers to designated meeting points instead. Arrangements vary by ship and tour, so confirm your exact pickup and drop-off from your booking confirmation before sailing day, not from a generic port map. From the Old Port, the cable car to cliff-top Fira is the usual option, but on multi-ship days the queue can consume a meaningful slice of a short call. A steep walking path of roughly 600 steps also links the port to Fira; it is exposed, often hot in summer, and not suitable for all passengers. Donkeys have a long history on this route but are not a recommended modern choice given welfare concerns, crowding and better alternatives — treat them as historic context only. Excursions may meet at the Old Port, Athinios, Fira or other confirmed points depending on the product. Plan every day backwards from your ship's stated all-aboard time, not its published departure, and build in tender and transfer buffer on busy days.

Tips for cruise passengers

  • Confirm your ship is in port long enough — tender delays compress eight-hour plans quickly
  • Prioritise two must-sees and treat the rest as bonus
  • Summer traffic between Oia and south coast can eat drive time

Typically not included

  • Meals and beverages
  • Site admission fees
